As a domestic violence victim, you will receive no legal advice from the staff of the government. The staff is permitted only to accompany a victim to court to offer moral support. The staff may not offer any legal advice.
I have seen many victims who obtained a final Order of Injunction, but the order fails to provide essential temporary relief such as custody, child support and/or a mechanism for handling the exchange of the child(ren) for visitation.
By either consulting with me prior to the hearing and/or having me represent you at the hearing, you may be assured that all issues in your case will be addressed by the judge thereby avoiding the necessity of returning to the court to modify your order.
Full resolution at this stage will also afford you the time to pursue dissolution of marriage or paternity action since you will enjoy the benefit of financial assistance pending the filing of such a case.
