Orlando Divorce Issues

During divorce proceedings, financial matters are always at the forefront.  However, seemingly small details that actually are worth significant amounts of money may be missed.  To avoid this, you need the services of an attentive, detail-oriented attorney to make certain that no minor divorce issues are overlooked.  I have a clear understanding and significant experience in making sure that all the financial details of a divorce are settled before a final decree is issued.  Contact me, Jeffrey A. Sunday, at my Orlando law office to discuss financial aspects of your divorce that might save you considerable money.

I have many years of experience practicing as a matrimonial lawyer in Orlando.  Divorce issues, seemingly minor, that might amount to a considerable sum, are something I understand very well.  I use this understanding to explain to my clients how their divorced status will affect their tax situation, for example.  Usually, the primary residential parent is entitled to the entire dependent deduction on federal income taxes.  However, that tax deduction can be transferred if support payments from the secondary residential parent are current. Additionally, the court will sometimes divide the exemptions, but qualify entitlement.  I explain all this and more to my clients.

Another issue that divorcing couples sometimes fail to consider is the apparently simple issue of automobile insurance.  If, in the division of marital assets, a vehicle is transferred from one party to the other, the insurance must also be transferred to the new owner of the vehicle.  Otherwise, the new owner could find him or herself uninsured in the event of an accident, with potentially catastrophic expenses.  I will work with your automobile insurance agent, if necessary, to protect you from unforeseen exposure to liability.

Attorneys’ fees are often not considered as either part of the award or part of the cost of divorce.  Which party is ultimately charged with the cost of attorneys’ fees can make a difference.  I believe that having an attorney who makes every effort to reduce the client’s cost or maximize the support award is critical during difficult divorce proceedings.  For thorough consideration of minor divorce issues that may have major financial implications for your future, contact me at my Orlando divorce practice, The Law Office of Jeffrey A. Sunday.
